Meet the Pastors
Rock and Brenda Shelton
Pastor Rock Shelton is our new lead pastor. Rock and his wife Brenda are both native Arkansans. Rock is a small town boy from the Arkansas River Valley, and Brenda grew up in a rural area west of Little Rock. Rock has served as a music pastor and lead pastor in Arkansas, Tennessee, and Texas during his years in ministry. Brenda is a gifted Bible teacher with a passion for prayer who has served alongside Rock in a variety of ministry roles.
Though both Rock and Brenda are formally educated, they consider their most noteworthy accomplishments to be within their leadership in the home. They are the proud parents of two daughters. Their girls are now young ladies serving Christ, and married to young men who are devoted Christ-followers, also. Both couples have two toddlers each – which means Rock and Brenda are the proud grandparents of four boys, ages four and under.
Pastor Rock and Brenda (who are often known as “Rock and Bren”) are excited about the ways God is moving at 1st Assembly and have a vision to not only reach Des Arc, but also Prairie, Lonoke, Woodruff, and Monroe counties with the love of Jesus.
Who We Are
1st Assembly is a growing church. Most commonly, however, in years past, it has simply been thought of as a “small church.”
We’ve come to realize that God’s vision for this church family is not about church size. It’s about becoming a church that is effective in reaching people who need Christ in our area and encouraging them to grow to maturity in their relationship with God. We believe as we are faithful to love and serve our area for God’s glory, His Spirit will grow the church according to God’s will.
Our mission focuses on helping strengthen today’s family: helping husbands and wives grow in their love for one another, and helping parents grow and lead like Christ within their home.
